"It's super messed up that a Tesla crash resulting in a broken ankle is front page news and the (approximately) 40,000 people who died in United States auto accidents alone in past year get nearly no coverage", Musk said last month.
The news comes in the midst of several investigations into the role of Tesla's current Autopilot in recent crashes. To date, Autopilot resources have rightly focused entirely on safety.
However, Elon Musk did confirm the rockets on the forthcoming Roadster will be "pure electric", ruling out the use of any petrol-based booster technology in the all-electric sports auto. Musk complains about heavy press coverage of crashes involving Tesla vehicles, while more numerous fatal crashes happen every day.
Musk eventually apologized (sort of) for his behavior, saying in a tweet that it was "foolish" to ignore the analysts.
What Musk means by "full self-driving features", though, is another question.
The tweet that alerted the world to Tesla's impending update was a response to an owner complaining about Autopilot's merging performance in traffic.
Robert De Niro bleeped at Tony Awards for Trump F-bomb
De Niro is one of the most respected actors in the United States with two Oscar wins for Raging Bull and The Godfather: Part II . The victor for best featured actress in a musical was Lindsay Mendez for her work in the revival of " Carousel ".
According to Musk, Tesla "will begin to enable full self-driving features" in August with the release of Autopilot Version 9. The version 9 update will be pushed out over-the-air to Tesla owners.
Shares of Tesla are now up nearly 10% in the past week and 5% this year.
General Motors said last week that its driver assistance feature, Super Cruise, will allow drivers to take their hands off the steering wheel for extended periods, but will stop the vehicle automatically if drivers are not attentive.
On Saturday, Musk said the package will include around 10 small rocket thrusters that will improve the vehicle's acceleration, maximum speed, braking, and handling. And we think that is enough time for the tech-maverick Elon Musk to figure out how those 10 rockets will blend into the vehicle.
