One of the big questions about Anthem has always been how BioWare will fit its usual penchant for grand, player-centric stories into a multiplayer-focused experience. Kicking things off today in sunny LA, EA brought its big names out in full force - and gave us a few surprises too.
"We launched our game in November of previous year and clearly we didn't get it quite right", he admitted.
Apart from that, there will also be a large scale multiplayer sandbox mode as well and EA has also introduced new characters in the game which include Captain Grievous, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Anakin Skywalker. Hinting that players will be put in the shoes of a Sith, the game will be set while the Jedi are being hunted.
Otherwise, the game looks spectacular. "So instead of coming out of the gate sprinting like we really wanted to, we had to take a step back and make sure we were delivering the game that our players really wanted".
You'll also be able to customise your character - called the Freelancer - as well as personalise your Javelin exo-suit, which will have upgrades across the four suits.

Japan is also expected to take a less confrontational approach than its G7 peers, while quietly pressing its case on trade. Trade Ambassador Robert Lighthizer is on the same page as the President, also wanting to pursue the bilateral route.
Then came the not so secret news that Battlefield would be following the trend of 2018 and releasing a Battle Royale mode after launch.
After the severe criticism EA received for Battlefront 2 a year ago, this time around the company has vowed to change the game. The new trailer surrounds a storm that's on the verge of wiping out civilization as we know it. The new heroes including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and General Grievous. Javelins have their own individual levels that relate to the gear and mods each class can equip, while some XP boosts level up the pilot which enhances abilities that carry over even if you switch Javelins such as increases to the amount of time you can stay airborne.
Fans of the original EA game Unravel will be glad to hear of a sequel called Unravel Two. Giving those smaller developers a chance to talk for themselves on stage instead of an executive and passionately share their stories with their audience (both Unravel Two and Sea of Solitude's leads were on the verge of tears) is commendable, and Unravel got a insane amount of screen time. While the specifics of the gameplay have yet to be ironed out, it looks to be a sea-based game telling an emotional story about how loneliness can turn people into monsters.
The highly anticipated action title is set for release on February 22, 2019 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. A big part of Anthem will be the concept of "Our World, My Story" which will allow players to share a world, but lead their own story and have their actions have impact, so they can feel that they have agency like in a single player game. AI-controlled cohorts are one of the main reasons they love other BioWare games and since Anthem lacks that, they are majorly apprehensive about the game. If this policy holds, direct cosmetic purchases will be the primary method EA uses to fund Anthem and Battlefield 5's development post-launch.
