"I see the media is working overtime speculating where I am & what I'm doing", the account tweeted. Rest assured, I am here at the @WhiteHouse with my family, feeling great, and working hard on behalf of children and the American people!' she wrote.

Mrs. Trump has not appeared in public since the wee hours of May 10, when she accompanied the president to a military base in Maryland to welcome home three Americans who had been released from detention in North Korea.

Trump had surgery to treat what the White House called a "benign kidney condition", which usually requires only a few days of recuperation.

Trump is not obligated to publicly disclose her health or what she does with her time, but first ladies have often been public about such matters.

The first lady tweeted Wednesday that she's "working hard" and "feeling great".

First Lady expert Katherine Jellison, a history professor at Ohio University said: 'It's unusual over the course of the past 50 years for a first lady not to be in public view, and, when she is out of the spotlight for a prolonged period, not to tell people what's going on.

Melania's communications director says she is doing "really well" and is engaged on internal meetings.

Subtropical storm Alberto rolled ashore Monday afternoon in the Florida Panhandle before quickly weakening to a depression. Alabama Power Co. said about 20,000 homes and businesses were without electricity Tuesday , most in the Birmingham area.

But her five-day hospital stay for what was described as relatively minor surgery did little to stop tongues wagging.

Nonetheless, she outshone the President, and the French President and first lady, in late-April, wearing a scene-stealing white hat to an official South Lawn arrival ceremony, garnering comparisons to Beyoncé.

She did not appear to be at the window, intensifying speculation.

Her continued absence from the public eye, however, has caused a raft of conspiracy theories to foment, as Politico noted. And some chalked up her absence as another example of her private tendencies. During her 11-minute speech, she underlined her commitment to spreading a message of social media kindness, as the President sat feet from his wife in the front row.

"She was hospitalised for nearly a week and is now home and recovering". The president also raised eyebrows by spelling his wife's name wrong in a tweet welcoming her home from hospital.
