Instagram code reveals music service within Stories and ability to detect music

Facebook, Inc's (NASDAQ:FB) Instagram has designs on making its Stories feature really pop for users. With music stickers, Instagram Stories will become an even stronger competitor to Snapchat.

In an APK teardown of the Instagram Android app, TechCrunch contributor Ishan Agarwal was able to find a code that suggests users will soon be able to add "music stickers" to their Instagram Stories. Well now, the latest addition to these features is auto-song detection and music stickers. The photo-sharing platform is also testing a way to automatically detect a song that you are listening to and display the artist and song title as a visual label within Instagram Stories.

The information on this feature at the moment is scarce.

Facebook seems to be taking a truly all-in-one approach for Instagram. A user named Jane Manchun Wong was successfully able to test the feature, and claims Instagram crashed when she tried to post anything using the music stickers. clips are already being shared a lot on Instagram and adding this native music stickers feature could have an impact on's user base, as pointed out by 9To5Mac.

It appears that once a song has been picked and added as a music sticker to their story, a clip will start playing whilst people watch.

Recently, Instagram's parent company Facebook has signed deals with some of the largest record labels in the world, including Sony, Warner and Universal. With the ability to add music stickers, Instagram Stories could turn an amateur video footage into a more listenable video experience. Codes within the Instagram app have outed new features before, including the new Focus mode and the Video Chat feature. With the new Payments feature, users will be able to store their card details and purchase directly from the app without having to leave the app. Music Stickers can be filtered by "Genre", "Moods", and "Trending", so users will be able to find the flawless soundtrack for their Story.
