Packers take Louisville CB Jaire Alexander at No. 18

The Seahawks did not have a pick in the third round and "wanted more picks badly", reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Alexander was projected as a first round pick prior to the 2017 season, but injuries sidelined the stud corner for half of the season.

The 5-foot-10¼, 192-pound Alexander ran a blazing 4.38-second 40-yard dash at the National Football League scouting combine in Indianapolis in February. Jackson led the nation with eight interceptions last season.

From 14 to 27 to 18: Gutekunst appeared to fleece the Saints when he traded back from No. 14 to No. 27 and picked up a fifth-rounder (No. 147) plus the Saints' first-round pick in 2019.

The two-time NFL MVP got help in the passing game on the third day of the NFL draft after the Packers prioritized pass defense in the early rounds.

They just about had to. For those that didn't know about Jackson heading into the draft, they now have heard from the man himself what they should expect.

Alexander is also a player who can return punts. It may be only one pick, but that is better than zero. Jackson at 45 was not overkill; the Packers were immensely cornerback needy, and Jackson was a legitimate round-one talent. That left last year's second-round pick, Kevin King, as the Packers' top cornerback following an injury-shortened rookie year.

Gibson was hoping to get drafted but did not get selected in the first seven rounds. That is a big deal because many believe that next year's class will be even deeper. "Very few corners, when the ball's in the air, can you feel them close space. Brown is a big receiver but moves well for that size and dropped just six passes in his college career".

Two linebackers were added, one inside (Vanderbilt's Oren Burks) and one outside (Southeast Missouri's Kendall Donnerson), plus one lineman on each side of the ball, both from the Pac-12. No, he's not. But I think when you watch the tape, he doesn't play like a little guy. As the team was put on the clock for the No. 18 overall selection in the first round, a trade with the Green Bay Packers was announced.
