Police believe that Jennair Gerardot, 47, broke into Chapman's home, waited for her to walk through the front door, and shot her.

Former University of DE communications official Meredith Chapman died Monday in what Pennsylvania law enforcement officers say was a murder-suicide.

Police said they believe Mark Gerardot was in the area because he had planned to meet Chapman for dinner, and when she didn't arrive, he became concerned and went to her house.

Meredith Chapman's death follows her recently moving to her new three story home following her departure at the University of DE where her love interest continued to work.

Meredith Chapman was just hired at Villanova as assistant vice president of marketing and creative services, and recently moved into the Delaware County neighborhood. Police also noted that it appears Jennair Gerardot brought a bag containing a wig and clothing with her. Jennair Gerardot didn't drive to Chapman's home and it wasn't immediately clear how she got there, police said.

Superintendent Colarulo said: 'You had a man who was married who was having an affair with this other woman.

Police added the murder suicide is alleged to resulted as a outcome of a meticulously planned execution.

Detectives say the murder-suicide was a "thought-out plan", with a 911 call recording revealing that the person who called said 'there's blood everywhere'.

Jennair Gerardot's husband, Mark Gerardot, was in the driveway when officers arrived.
