Shortly after his arrival, the French leader and his wife Brigitte Macron, Trump and his wife, first lady Melania Trump, are planting a European Sessile Oak sapling on the South Lawn of the White House, a gift from the Macrons. "Over 9,000 American marines died in the Belleau Wood battle in June 1918 and the forest is a memorial site and important symbol of the sacrifice the United States made to ensure peace and stability in Europe".

Later, the first couples will leave the White House on Marine One to see the historic monuments in Washington, D.C., ending at Mount Vernon-the iconic home of America's first President, George Washington.

On Tuesday, Trump and his wife are hosting the official military welcoming ceremony at the White House for the Macrons that will include almost 500 US troops from all five branches of its armed forces.

"President Macron is correct in saying there's no "Plan B" on JCPOA", Zarif wrote on Twitter, referring to French President Emmanuel Macron and the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action signed by the U.S., Iran, France, Russia, China, Germany, the United Kingdom and European Union.

Dianne Feinstein of California, Tim Kaine of Virginia, Brian Schatz of Hawaii and Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire. Mike Pompeo's nomination for secretary of state received a boost Thursday with support from Democratic Sen.

Trump has repeatedly criticized the Obama-era nuclear agreement, reached in 2015.

Zarif said: "That's a very risky message to send to people of Iran - but also to the people of the world - that you should never come to an agreement with the United States because at the end of the day, the operating principle of the United States is "what's mine is mine, what's yours is negotiable".

Macron is addressing Congress, in English, on Wednesday, before heading back to Paris.

While the grande dame of German politics, Chancellor Angela Merkel, struggles to find common ground on reforming the Eurozone with Macron, Trump looks like the French president's new best friend.
