Joel Embiid is practicing, Game 3 status up in air

Embiid has missed Philadelphia's last 10 games while recovering from a concussion and surgery that repaired a fractural orbital bone around his left eye. Embiid had hoped to play in Game 2 after the NBA's concussion protocol, but the Sixers are being conservative with his return to the court and ultimately ruled him out.

Miami ran its record to 7-0 in Game 2 contests after being down 1-0 in a series under Spoelstra by beating the 76ers 113-103 on Monday to even the series at 1-1, shifting home-court advantage to the No. 6-seeded Heat.

He posted an Instagram story Monday saying he was "sick and exhausted of being babied", and the Heat's aggressive style and defense intensified without Embiid in the lineup.

"He just wants to play basketball", Brown told reporters. "When he's not able to do that, he gets frustrated".

Sixers head coach Brett Brown relayed to the media during practice sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon that Embiid was being slowly reintegrated into the fold for Philadelphia, involved in shooting and scripting work for the first time on Tuesday afternoon. Those impressive numbers helped him earn his first career All-Star nod one year after being named to the NBA All-Rookie first team.

Embiid's facial injury doesn't affect his mobility on the floor.

Embiid, who is with the team in Miami and has been sporting a protective facial mask in warmups, won't be satisfied with the doctor's orders.

The 76ers look to still be without Embiid for game 3, and Whiteside has to dominate the paint inside.

"I think, because he is an athlete, whenever the time comes when he does play, I think it'll move in a more rapid way".

During the regular season, the Marshall University product averaged 15.3 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game against the 76ers. "He just wants to be with his team". In 26 minutes off the bench, Wade totaled 28 points on 11-of-16 shooting, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Although the Sixers have listed Embiid as doubtful, the Heat are preparing to see him one way or the other.

"Everyone's happy that he's back", forward Robert Covington said. Although Wade only delivered 11 points in Game 1, his 28 point contribution in Game 2 lead the Heat to their first win of the postseason series.
