The Wildcats and their horde of long-range shooters are playing for their second title in three years, a chance to establish a mini dynasty.

Michigan, Villanova and all the ingredients for a memorable NCAA championship game.

Villanova is one of the greatest 3-point shooting teams in college basketball history, breaking season and NCAA Tournament records.

The Wildcats were one of the most proficient 3-point shooting teams during the regular season and upped the 3 ante in the NCAA Tournament, knocking down a record 65 and counting.

Villanova's Jalen Brunson, left, celebrates with Donte DiVincenzo after the team's NCAA college basketball game against Providence in the Big East men's tournament final Saturday, March 10, 2018, in NY.

Not many analysts had picked MI as the team to emerge from this part of the bracket, but they were able to grind out wins over tough opponents including Florida State and Houston. This is largely a credit to guards Zavier Simpson and Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman.

Also favored in every NCAA tournament game, MI has gone 3-1-1 against the spread. Teams get off just 16.1 three-point attempts per game against the Wolverines, and they make just 5.3 of those, both of which are the fifth-lowest marks in the nation. The Wolverines needed a second-half surge against Loyola to turn a 10 point deficit into a 12 point victory.

The concern even if they do limit Villanova's 3s: Back-door cuts. They've also managed to outpace Loyola, a team that had stayed close enough to defeat other opponents in the tournament, to get here.

Manchester United's Paul Pogba insists he has 'no problem' with José Mourinho
Jose Mourinho has spent over £300m in just over 18 months at Man United - but according to the Special One that hasn't been enough.

It'll be Villanova's high-powered offense, led by Mikal Bridges and Jalen Brunson, against the Wolverines stingy defense which ranks third in Division I, according to Ken Pomeroy's adjusted efficiency. He had a historic performance in the Final Four with 24 points and 15 rebounds.

If you had just bet on Villanova throughout the NCAA tournament you'd be seeing this scene a lot.

Then again, one might expect this natural advantage in scoring margin for the No. 1 seed to be somewhat offset in this particular national championship game. Villanova is the most efficient offensive team in the country and will find answers to John Belein's vaunted defense.

- The over/under total sat at 144.5 as of Monday morning.

Why does the college basketball National Championship Game starts so late? If the Wildcats win, it will likely mean their shots were falling, and 7-point spread doesn't seem so large when 3's are dropping left and right.

Both teams are also in good form entering the season finale.

Seniors to the rescue: Aside from Moe Wagner and Charles Matthews, nobody made any shots in the semifinal game. The No.3 seed in the West region has won three of its tournament games by double-digits.
