Megan Markle's secret baptism with water from Jordan River

Meghan Markle might not be a royal quite yet, but she's already using her powerful podium to inspire the masses, with a particular focus on the feminist issues that are most important to her.

USA actress Meghan Markle has been baptised by the Archbishop of Canterbury, the spiritual head of the Church of England, ahead of her royal wedding in May to Britain's Prince Harry, the Daily Mail newspaper reported on Thursday.

The baptism is a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth II, who is the head of the Church of England.

Sophia was waving a British flag when Prince Harry approached her. (PA/AAP) Sophia told the prince she wants to be an actress when she grows up. She said: "He said, 'You need to be confident and you can achieve whatever you want to achieve.' Meghan said that one day she will see me being an actress". According to CNN, Markle personally asked Welby to perform the ceremony.

In return, the "Stemettes" said of her picking up an inventing kit: "In the same way that when she wears a dress we all buy it, here she's picked up [the kit] so let's try it". Kate Middleton, who was baptized at birth, was also confirmed in a private ceremony just weeks before her wedding to Prince William in April 2011.

The future royal stepped out in the two-tone wool blend coat which she wore with cigarette trousers, a cosy cream knit (a little research uncovered it as the Ridley jumper from All Saints) and high heels.

That wasn't the couple's only brush with encouraging young women on IWD. "It's one of the secret hideaways where the couple can meet friends and Dyer always makes sure they're well taken care of", the source says.

The wedding will take place at 12 p.m. GMT (7 a.m. ET) on May 19 and will be officiated by the Dean of Windsor, the Right Reverend David Conner and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Kensington Palace revealed last month.
