University police said the suspect was caught on camera fleeing the area. Records show they're from Plainfield, Illinois.

Davis was considered armed and risky and campus police were investigating the incident along with local and state police, according to university officials.

Mount Pleasant is roughly 70 miles north of Lansing.

A search is underway for the alleged shooter, James Eric Davis Jr.

It is believed that Davis' parents were on campus for this reason, suggesting the possibility that Davis Jr. had pre-meditated the double homicide.

CMU says those planning to come to campus today to pick students up for spring break should stay off campus until further notice.

Davis Jr., 19, is a sophomore at CMU who graduated from Plainfield Central High School in 2016. Authorities describe Davis as "armed and unsafe".

"He is wearing mustard yellow jeans and a blue hoodie". His photo was released to the public.

Anyone who sees the suspect is urged to call 911 immediately and not to approach him, as he is believed to be armed and risky.
