Customers can order "fresh produce, high quality meat and seafood, everyday staples and other locally sourced items from Whole Foods Market" using a mobile Prime Now application from Amazon.

It's unclear if Greeley's title will change or whether his appointment will affect Whole Foods CEO John Mackey's role. Walmart is No. 1, followed by Kroger, Costco and Albertsons.

The announcement is just the latest in the integration by Amazon of the grocery store chain that is known for its high end organic products that Amazon purchases for $13.7 billion in June of past year. Amazon does not mention just what types "select alcohol" are covered.

Amazon is now making it pretty easy for some of its customers to get their groceries. Instacart brought hundreds of grocery retailers online, and they have managed to do it successfully. Prime customers get free shipping if the order totals at least $35; as well, customers can choose one-hour shipping for an additional $7.99 Dollars. The bank wrote in a note to investors that 48% of people using Prime Now are ordering grocery items with it - more than they are ordering more traditional e-commerce offerings.

Amazon dropped rates on few things at the 457 Whole Foods markets in the United States after the contract concluded. The company will roll out the service to more cities later in the year. This the company's first major integration between its acquisition of Whole Foods and its e-commerce operations. Amazon also failed to mention how many items are available for quick delivery, but this is nonetheless a promising start. The super-fast one hour delivery option costs $8, and two-hour delivery is free on orders of $35 or more.

It's unclear whether this will exacerbate the troubles Whole Foods stores have had recently with empty shelves, a problem related to an inventory management system introduced before the Amazon purchase.

Amazon will kick-off its purchase of Whole Foods in grand fashion. Regular Amazon orders are filled by Amazon employees at enormous, purpose-built Amazon fulfillment centers.

The pickers will not certainly be Whole Foods workers.

That means you can't mix together items offered by Amazon's shop and Whole Foods' shop and expect them to be delivered together.

Those pickers will not necessarily be Whole Foods staffers.
