Jessica Falkholt's life support switched off days after family's joint funeral

Former Home and Away star Jessica Falkholt has had her life support turned off, just a day after the funeral for her parents and sister.

Doctors have performed multiple surgeries on the 29-year-old Falkholt - including reportedly removing a portion of her skull and one of her kidneys - in an effort to save her life.

Channel 7 reporter Samantha Brett wrote on Twitter, "Heartbreaking as life support for Jessica Falkholt is turned off a day after her family was farewelled".

New South Wales Police confirmed the life support machine was switched off overnight. Bystanders managed to pull Jessica and Annabelle from the crash before the auto burst into flames, but Annabelle died three days later in Liverpool Hospital.

"Speaking about the accident, Jessica's uncle, Paul Ponticello, said: "[It's] a day that will be hard to erase from our memory", adding that Lars was known for being an excellent driver.

As per a report in, the actress lost her parents and sister in a vehicle crash.

The fire seemed larger than reported because of the amount of smoke billowing from the roof of the skyscraper. After more than 70 firefighters responded, the fire was declared under control by 8:15 am.

He also thanked the "saviours" who risked their lives to pull Annabelle and Jessica from the inferno.

Jessica found fame after appearing as Hope Morrison on Home and Away in 2016, also starring in upcoming supernatural thriller Harmony, which is due for release in 2018. He had previously been subject to a nine-year driving ban and had at least 10 convictions for driving while disqualified.

During the service, Jessica's uncle Paul Ponticello tearfully told mourners their family will forever be haunted by Christmas - the last time they were all together.

"The irony of this tragedy is that Lars was such a careful driver".

Whitehall was reportedly driving home from a methadone clinic at the time of the crash, which allegedly saw him veer into the other lane and hit the Falkholt family.

A family friend said, "They were a very close family and had been on a quiet getaway", according to The Telegraph as reported by Sydney Morning Herald. They are together and always will be. I will always miss you.
