The Nintendo Switch was the hottest gadget of 2017 and the only unambiguously successful new product of the year.

Now, with some 4.8 million sales in the USA alone, the Switch has surpassed 10-month sales records set by the previous record holder, the Wii, which managed 4 million units over the same time period. That's the highest total for the first 10 months of any home video game system in US history, surpassing Nintendo's own Wii system, which was the previous record holder with more than 4 million units sold during the same timeframe.

At the beginning of 2017, Nintendo was in a precarious position. This surpasses the Nintendo Wii at 4 million and is the "highest total for the first 10 months of any home video game system in US history".

55% users own Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Microsoft and Sony have not yet released holiday sales numbers for their consoles, but they are not expected to outperform the Switch.

The figure means that close to 1.5 million North American Switches would have been bought in December, pushing Nintendo closer to that 14 million unit milestone. The music will undoubtedly keep you focused on your task while providing a wonderfully entertaining experience on your Switch.

With some wondering where Nintendo's console goes in its second year, Nintendo says that owners "can look forward to Nintendo-published games like Kirby Star Allies, Bayonetta, Bayonetta 2 and a new game starring Yoshi".

To date, about 300 games for the Switch have been released to the market.
