Toffees ace Ross Barkley is expected to complete his £15 million switch to Stamford Bridge today, according to BBC Sport.

Chelsea are closing in on a £15million deal for Everton midfielder Ross Barkley and could confirm the move before the weekend, according to reports.

Barkley turned down a big-money move to Chelsea at the last minute as he wanted to focus on his recovery.

The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer.

The Telegraph and even the Metro further added that Chelsea is very confident of signing the Everton man.

The Everton midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and new manager Sam Allardyce admitted on Thursday that the club is resigned to losing its homegrown talent, who has rejected offers to extend his stay at Goodison Park.

The England global has less than six months left on his contract at Goodison Park and Tottenham was hoping to get him for free in the summer.

Barkley, capped 22 times by England, has previously expressed a desire to play Champions League football and will be eligible to play for Chelsea in their last-16 clash against Barcelona in February.

It remains to be seen whether Pochettino has lined up another target, which could have changed his mind about signing Barkley.

Barkley is all-but recovered from a serious hamstring injury that has forced him to watch the first few months of the season from the sidelines.
