According to AVP.org, Isaiah Myers, 15, Shanta's oldest son, was out of town at the time and is the only surviving member of the family.
Police recovered a knife with blood on both the handle and the blade located on a ledge near a closet close to the victims. Troy Police told Post-Star newspartners NewsChannel 13 that court appearances were scheduled for the suspects early Saturday.
Troy Police credited the arrests to the work of Troy Police Detectives, the NYSP Major Crimes Unite, NYS DOCCS, the Rensselaer County District Attorney's Office and several other law enforcement agencies. The victims were found in the basement of 158 Second Ave. on Tuesday by the apartment caretaker.
Mann appeared to break down as he was led out of court. They were arraigned in Troy City Court while several family members and reporters look on.
The bodies of Shanta Myers, 36, Brandi Mells, 22, and two of Myers' three children-Shanise Myers, 5, and Jeremiah "JJ" Myers, 11-were discovered in their Troy apartment on Tuesday, Dec. 26.
James White is named as the second suspect in the case.
A press conference from Troy police is at 11 a.m. "It's going to devastate us for a very, very long time", Symes said Thursday.

Police also released victims' names along with photos Thursday, in hopes of getting information from residents that could help find the killer or killers.
The two children, Shanta Myers, and Brandi Mells. Her 5-year-old daughter loved cooking, too, so the family agreed to let her cook spaghetti as part of their Christmas meal.
"We are shocked and deeply saddened by this tragedy", reads a statement on a GoFundMe page set up by a representative of the club.
"Our hearts are broken and our thoughts and deepest condolences are with their family and loved ones during this terribly troubling time", Carmello wrote.
