The announcement was made on Raw by Stephanie McMahon during the main event segment of the show.
There are now 22 female competitors on Raw and SmackDown, meaning if the event is to include 30 people - as is the case with the men's match - then some non-main roster talent must be used.
The Raw and SmackDown divisions will compete in the first women's Royal Rumble next month, WWE has confirmed.
The Royal Rumble 2018 event takes place at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Women such as Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks and Bayley, collectively known as The Four Horsewomen, showed viewers that they could put on just as good of a show as their male counterparts and even began headlining pay-per-view events, highlighted by a great rivalry with Banks and Bayley.

McMahon appeared during the six-woman tag team match after it devolved into a brawl and announced that WWE would be making history with the first-ever Women's Rumble.
It certainly is going to be an exciting moment for Women's wrestling, and you would think just like the men's Royal Rumble, the women will also have moments throughout the rumble where returns occur, legends show up, and NXT stars make their debuts on the main roster.
