Mourinho accepted United did not play well against Brighton after watching Young's shot take a huge deflection off Lewis Dunk to seal the points in the second-half.

Video footage showed Lukaku appearing to kick out at Bong following a tussle between the pair at the 66th-minute corner from which Ashley Young scored United's deflected victor in the 1-0 victory.

Former Premier League and Federation Internationale de Football Association referee Graham Poll is adamant that "Lukaku's assault" should have been punished. The Brighton fullback did remarkably well to not react, nor complain to the officials.

However, Gallagher told Sky Sports News: "The act has to be one of violence or brutality". It's not really either for me. This Belgian marksman had scored seven goals in seven league starts, but he has since scored only one goal in the next six Premier League matches.

The 24-year-old has scored just once in his last 10 games but Mourinho believes he offers much more than goals on the pitch, inspiring his team-mates to follow his lead and work harder.

"As soon as I saw it, I thought they will probably look at it".

Winter session: Congress seeks President's intervention
Questions were also raised if the session could spill over to January from December without the President's customary address. It had been resorted to during the regimes of Indira Gandhi , P V Narasimha Rao and Manmohan Singh , he said.

"The way Romelu wins the corner for the goal, the way he ends the game making tackles in the left-back position, that's the mentality I want.

Some are capable of going to the limit of their efforts but others, even with a lot of talent, are not able to". So Romelu, for me, (is) fantastic. "He didn't score. I don't care".

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho praises Romelu Lukaku.

"I am not talking about a petulant reaction to a penalty-box wrestle with an opponent, but rather his performance".

It's also important for Lukaku to show it now that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has returned to the first team and Mourinho has a strong alternative to replace him with in the starting lineup.
