ESPN reported on Friday that Derrick Rose was away from the Cleveland Cavaliers and seriously considering retirement.

One team source told ESPN of Rose: "He's exhausted of being hurt, and it's taking a toll on him mentally".

Derrick Rose has been through a lot both on and off the floor during his National Basketball Association career and it may have finally taken its toll on him.

Rose has already missed 11 of the Cavs' 18 games this season due to a lingering ankle injury and hasn't played more than 66 games since the 2010-11 campaign. Rose, unfortunately, has never been anywhere close to the same player since his time in his native Chicago.

Last season, Rose went missing from the New York Knicks on a game day without permission from the organization.

The Cavs, however, figure to be just fine without him.

Rose was averaging 14.3 points per game for the Cavaliers.

Unfortunately, Rose's body has repeatedly failed him in recent years and that has been the case again with an ankle injury that has kept the point guard out of action since November 7.

When you consider that Rose has played in just 237 out of a possible 412 regular-season games since tearing his ACL in the 2012 playoffs, it's understandable why Rose might be discouraged.
