SpaceX should begin its broadcast around 15 minutes prior to the opening of its launch window, so check back here to watch.

SpaceX has issued a warning that its upcoming mission will include a return to a land-based platform, which should result in a sonic boom. The payload will be launched by the company's Falcon 9 rocket.

But no state agency claimed Zuma.

The super secret "Zuma" mission claimed by no USA government entity - not even the elusive NRO spy agency! - and whose goals are veiled in virtually complete darkness- is poised for a dark of night blastoff on a SpaceX Falcon rocket Thursday evening, November 16, from the Florida Space Coast.

"The US Government assigned Northrop Grumman the responsibility of acquiring launch services for this mission", Northrop Grumman's strategic communications director Lon Rains told me in an emailed statement.

They turned up the volume again Wednesday morning, with new coach Sean McDermott doing the honors this time. I have to move forward and continue to be a teammate and a leader that I am in a different role".

What we don't know about the secretive payload is much more significant than what we do know.

This isn't the first secret payload SpaceX has sent to space.

United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V rocket carrying the CLIO mission for Lockheed Martin Space Systems Company launched at 8:10 p.m. EDT September 16, 2014 from Space Launch Complex-41 on Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla. One was a spy satellite, and the other cargo was the mysterious secret space plane of the US Air Force X-37B.

SpaceX's official mission overview for this one basically doesn't even mention the Zuma, except to not that that's what they're sending up into space.

SpaceX and the Pentagon did not respond to requests for comment about the nature of the mission.
